Abstract
This module covers the fundamentals of powered mobility devices including the various classifications and types of devices. Components and features are presented with indications and contra-indications. Coverage policy is also referenced throughout.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to;
- Describe the 5 categories of power wheelchairs
- Describe the 4 criteria appropriate for the use of a scooter
- List 3 Medicare coverage criteria for powered mobility
- List 3 parameters that can programmed or adjusted on a power wheelchair control system
- Describe 3 alternative types of controls for operating a power wheelchair beyond the standard joystick.
