Abstract
This module reviews various seat functions that can be incorporated into a wheelchair system. These include tilt in space, reclining backrests, elevating legrests, seat elevation, and standing. The indications and contraindications of each function are discussed from a best-practice and evidence-based practice perspective. A case study further illustrates the application of these seat functions.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this module, the learner will be able to:
- Explain 2 indications and 2 contraindications of each of the 5 seat functions discussed in this module
- identify 2 publications or resources that describe the benefits of the seat functions mentioned in this module
- Describe 2 seat functions and their impact on the case study.
